Amara on stage in Brescia: "Music is therapy. Battiato is my mentor."

Amara on stage in Brescia: "Music is therapy. Battiato is my mentor."

"Music for me? It's like therapy, a mirror." This is how Amara , the stage name of Erika Mineo, singer-songwriter and author of hit songs, describes her vision of music. She will be in Brescia on July 18th at 9:30 pm, at the Borsoni Theater Summer Arena, as part of the 'Metropolitan Fantasies. Shows, sounds and visions from around the world' series by CTB and ManoLibera Cooperativa di Comunità. Amara brings her Live Tour 2025 to Brescia: from Il peso del coraggio to Che sia benedetta, brought to great success by the voice of Fiorella Mannoia, Amara offers an intimate and powerful concert .

What will we see in Brescia?

"I've worked very naturally to piece together my musical journey from 2015 to today. A very conceptual concert, because of my connection with it, which leads me to not remain indifferent to what happens on earth, in life."

His songs combine words and forward-looking sounds, but also a profound spirituality , reminiscent of Battiato. Where does this need come from?

My spiritual journey began a long time ago. I was 20 when I left everything behind, my hometown, experiencing the extreme loneliness of leaving my comfort zone. This led to the beginning of a journey of inner exploration. In Franco Battiato, I found a master, a man who had the courage to put his spiritual quest into music. But I could also mention De Gregori, Gaber, Dalla, Vecchini, all singer-songwriters who have tried to live on this level, which isn't a matter of self-interest, but of looking from a cliff like the earth, finding wonder in new things. And putting all this into music to reach everyone, because those who write songs feel this great sense of responsibility.

At the Brescia concert, you'll also perform some songs by Battiato, Gabriella Ferri, Giuni Russo, and De André. Is there still room for singer-songwriters these days?

"Music is powerful because it's vast and everyone expresses their own uniqueness. I never say one thing excludes the other. Today, there are so many singer-songwriters, so many artists, even in the more commercial music world, who write their own lyrics, their own music. The language has probably changed, but there's a great desire to express themselves. Personally, when I enter the world of music, I'm automatically drawn to delve deeper, exposing questions and fragilities, but I admire those who can make music that doesn't make me think. As far as I'm concerned, music is therapy, a mirror, where you see who you are, what you think. And the beautiful thing is that it's always changing."
